Poll Watcher

Tonight Lisa Shepherd & I got to be poll watchers. I could see how in close local elections this would be a helpful thing, but tonight there wasn't much going on. A poll watcher gets to look at the books of the people who have voted and can call people and tell them to come and vote.
We looked over some of the voting books, and I have to say that I am so proud of our precinct. I have no idea what the percentage of voters were, but it's got to be high. I couldn't believe how many people voted. Even the bad weather couldn't keep us down. Good Job Everyone!!!
On the news last night they said that 340,000 Utahan's voted early. I think that this made a huge difference in wait time at our location. I was told by the election workers that people were lined up by 6:30 a.m. That the first hour was a little hectic, the lines were long, etc. However, this quickly died down and they were able to get people in and out fairly quickly. When we showed up to poll watch there wasn't a line at all. People were able to come right on in, sign the book and Vote.

It's great to be a part of the process. I wish more people would have opted to be poll watchers. There really wasn't much for us to do since we dominate in our party for the general elections.

The best Republican poll watching experience is when you work with a campaign and are in a primary race. That's when it's very exciting.

Thanks to our poll workers who sat there ALL day. The lines were non-existent except for when they first opened.

We had just about 10,000 people vote in our district. It's sad that out of those 10,000 people who vote that they didn't all show up to the Republican caucuses where the real election happens in our party. Delegates make the vital votes for candidates. Caucus attendees choose the delegates. We must get this word out.
Thanks for all of your hard work!

We only had approximately 450 people show up to the 2008 Republican caucuses in our district. Not very good precentages. Let's get the word out!
